Open this on the county mapCost calculator

DeKalb County, Georgia has the highest share of people working from home, 17.3%, of the 351 US counties with 25,000 or more people, 200+ Mbps average download speed and a median home under $350K (Census ACS 2022; Ookla Speedtest Intelligence; Zillow ZHVI 2024).

Remote work only moves you if the connection holds and the house does not eat the raise. This list requires 200 megabits down on average and a median home under $350,000, then ranks by the share of the local workforce already working from home, which is the best signal that a place has figured out how to live this way.

Internet speed is Ookla's measured average, not an advertised tier. Home value is Zillow 2024.

How we rank

Every county with 25,000 or more residents in the Census 2023 estimate is eligible, provided it has Download Speed of at least 200 Mbps and Median Home Value of at most $350K. Counties are ranked by Work From Home %, highest first, from Census ACS 2022. A county missing any figure in the table is left out rather than scored as zero, which is why 787 of the 3,222 places in the county database qualify and 351 meet the requirements. Connecticut’s planning regions are excluded because they are not counties. The table is recomputed from the database every day, so figures here can move as sources update.
