Commercial card rooms operate poker rooms and slot machines under separate pari-mutuel licenses. The state lottery has operated since 1988 and funds education. Horse racing and jai alai have long histories in Florida. The practical result for residents is a layered system: you can visit a Hard Rock casino, play at a pari-mutuel poker room, or try sports betting through the Hard Rock app.

The key point for anyone moving to Florida: you can bet on sports legally through the Seminole Hard Rock app and visit large casino properties. What you cannot do is play through national commercial operators like DraftKings or FanDuel, which have no Florida license. Online casino gambling beyond sports betting is not legal.
