Oklahoma fishing centers on its large reservoirs. Lake Texoma on the Texas border is one of the premier striped bass fisheries in the south-central United States — the lake is naturally reproducing a striper population that grows fish over 30 pounds. Lake Eufaula in the east is 102,000 acres of largemouth bass, white bass, and crappie. Grand Lake O' the Cherokees and Tenkiller Lake in the northeast corner are tournament bass destinations with clear water.
The Illinois River in the northeast holds smallmouth bass in float-trip accessible stretches. Broken Bow Lake in the southeast holds striped bass and largemouth in clear, deep water.
Resident licenses cost $25. Oklahoma is a strong value fishing state. The striper fishing on Lake Texoma is genuinely world-class — it is the only landlocked lake in the country where striped bass reproduce naturally at scale. Guide services on Texoma are experienced and specialized. If you move to Oklahoma City or Tulsa, you are within an hour of multiple large reservoirs.
Lake Texoma on the Oklahoma-Texas border is the most important striper fishery in the south-central US. Lake Eufaula covers 102,000 acres and produces trophy largemouth bass. Oklahoma's reservoirs are consistently ranked among the best bass lakes in the country.
