New Jersey has Gunnison Beach at Sandy Hook National Recreation Area, operated by the National Park Service, as a legally designated nude beach. New Jersey also has several established private clubs. N.J.S.A. 2C:14-4 covers lewdness but designated areas are specifically exempted.

The New York metro area's primary nude beach. Federally managed, legally designated, with lifeguards in season. About 1 mile of beach. Very popular July–August. The most accessible legal nude beach in the northeast.
Access: Sandy Hook Pkwy to Lot G/Gunnison area; ferry from Manhattan seasonally available; NPS fee
