Rhode Island has an unusual casino structure: the state itself operates two gaming facilities under the Rhode Island Lottery. Twin River Casino Hotel in Lincoln and Bally's Tiverton Casino Hotel are the state's two licensed properties. The state-controlled model means casino revenue flows directly to the state rather than to private shareholders. Sports betting launched in 2018 at the casinos and expanded to mobile betting in 2019. Online casino gambling is also legal, with the state operating online platforms through its lottery partnership with Bally's.

The lottery sells traditional draw games and scratch tickets. The state is small, which means both casinos are accessible from most Rhode Island addresses. Horse racing ended at Lincoln Downs years ago but historical racing terminal wagering has been discussed.

For residents, Rhode Island offers sports betting and online casino gambling in a compact state where neither facility is more than 45 minutes away. The market is smaller and less competitive than neighboring Massachusetts or Connecticut, but the legal framework is complete. The state-operated model means fewer commercial brands compete for your business — you are largely working within the Bally's ecosystem for online play.
